ABC

On April 3rd several WRVC students attended the 2026 ABC Craft Championship at the Augusta Civic Center. This annual competition and workforce development event provides hands - on demonstrations and student competition. This event is unique in that it brings together contractors, apprentices, high school students and educators.

On the day of the event WRVC's Griffin Spires, a senior in our Electricity program, competed in the Electrical Competition. This competition is known for being a tight race. After working hard Griffin came home thinking that he had placed fourth. We have since learned there was a scoring error and with corrections made, Griffin won first place!

In their newsletter, ABC recognized Griffin as one of the 1st place winners. In addition, Jesse Battis, Assistant Project Manager for DeBlois Electric, wanted to congratulate Griffin in person, and present him with a plaque and a gift from Milwaukee Tools. This presentation was made at WRVC last week, with instructor Rudy Clark and the year one Electricity students present.

Congratulations Griffin! Thank you to Mr. Battis for coming to present this recognition to Griffin! Thank you to ABC Maine (Associated Builders Contractors) for hosting this annual event and the opportunities it affords our students.
