SkillsUSA Student Crew

WRVC is proud to celebrate the incredible efforts of our 35 SkillsUSA students who traveled to Bangor on March 12–13 to participate in the SkillsUSA Maine State Championships. Students represented WRVC as competitors, volunteers, and models, joining Career and Technical Education students from across Maine for two days dedicated to demonstrating the technical, academic, and professional skills they have developed through their programs.

While medals are certainly exciting, the heart of SkillsUSA is about growth, teamwork, courage, and pride in the skilled trades. Our students showed up ready to learn, support one another, and represent their programs, schools, and communities with professionalism and enthusiasm. From early morning preparations to the closing ceremony celebrations, it was a powerful reminder that CTE learning is about effort, passion, and the journey of becoming skilled, confident professionals.

This experience would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of our staff. Mrs. Bruns did a phenomenal job coordinating and leading this adventure, pouring countless hours and months of preparation into creating an unforgettable learning experience for our students. If there were a SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year, it would unquestionably be her!

We are also deeply grateful to Ms. DeCosta, Mr. Anestis, Chef Maureen Hernandez, Ms. Atripaldi, and Ms. Bearor, our outstanding Custom Coach bus driver, whose positive energy and commitment made this trip so special. Thank you as well to all of the staff who mentored and prepared students for competition... this was truly a team effort that reflects the strength of the WRVC community.

A special thank you goes to Custom Coach of New England for providing a wonderful bus and the amazing Ms. Bearor, who safely transported and supported our students on their journey.
